About Dr. Pyle

Depth, Experience, and a Space You Can Trust

Sometimes difficult feelings are triggered by something that has happened recently — the loss of a relationship, a crisis at work, a relocation, a traumatic experience, or the death of someone close. Other times, the struggle is part of a larger picture of unhappiness or anxiety that has lingered for years, leaving you frustrated and confused.

I specialize in individual psychotherapy and psychoanalysis with adults. My background spans more than three decades across private practice, community mental health, forensic, and crisis settings. I hold a doctorate in clinical psychology and am a certified psychoanalyst with eight years of intensive post-doctoral training. My work is grounded in contemporary relational psychoanalysis and intersubjective systems theory, with an attachment-theory influence.

Everyone experiences their difficulties differently. My aim is to offer a collaborative, confidential space you can use to understand your own experience more fully. Profound changes in quality of life are possible, and it is a privilege to be part of that process.

I was a founding faculty and board member of the Tampa Bay Institute for Psychoanalytic Studies. In addition to teaching, I have published and presented in the field, and have held editorial and board roles within the American Psychological Association's Division of Psychoanalysis. I remain active in the training and supervision of psychoanalytic professionals, both in the United States and internationally.

Common Questions

Before You Reach Out

Do you see clients anywhere in Florida?

Yes. As a psychologist licensed in the State of Florida (PY6593), I provide telehealth sessions to adults located anywhere in Florida — including Miami, Orlando, Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, Naples, Tallahassee, and the Tampa Bay area. In-person sessions are also available at my South Tampa office.

Are you accepting new clients?

Yes. I am currently accepting new adult clients for individual psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, both by telehealth across Florida and in person in South Tampa. To arrange a confidential consultation, please call (813) 857-9044 or email hapyle@gmail.com.

What does a depth-oriented approach offer?

A depth-oriented, psychodynamic approach pays close attention to the patterns beneath the surface — the early experiences, relationships, and ways of feeling that quietly shape how we live now. Rather than focusing only on a presenting symptom, it creates space to understand why difficulties recur and what they mean, which can open the door to lasting change and a fuller sense of yourself. Many approaches to therapy are genuinely helpful, and the right fit depends on what you're looking for; depth work is especially suited to those who want to explore things more deeply and make sense of longstanding or hard-to-name struggles.

How does telehealth work, and is it effective?

Sessions take place over a video platform. You'll need a private space and a reliable internet connection. In-depth therapy and psychoanalytic work translate well to video, and online sessions allow for the consistency that meaningful change requires — without the barriers of travel or distance.

What is the fee per session?

Individual sessions are $255. Payment is accepted by check, Venmo, and Zelle. I am happy to provide a superbill for out-of-network insurance reimbursement — please call to discuss the specifics.

How do I schedule a first appointment?

Call (813) 857-9044 or email hapyle@gmail.com to arrange a brief, confidential phone consultation. We'll discuss what you're looking for, I'll answer your questions, and — if it's a good fit — we'll schedule an initial session.
